Professional Anti-Slip Epoxy Application Guide
Step 1: Surface Preparation
Diamond grind the concrete floor using a suitable coarse abrasive to remove existing coatings, contaminants and weak surface material while creating a suitable profile for epoxy adhesion.
Step 2: Repair & Fill
Repair cracks, holes and other concrete imperfections using a suitable concrete repair or filling product. Allow repairs to cure fully before continuing.
Step 3: Prime the Surface
Apply one even coat of Ultrabarrier epoxy primer. Allow the primer to cure according to the product's application instructions before applying the epoxy base coat.
Step 4: Apply Base Coat & Broadcast Anti-Slip Media
Apply one coat of Ultrashield epoxy as the base coat. While the epoxy is still wet, evenly broadcast the anti-slip media across the entire surface. Use epoxy spike shoes when walking across the wet coating to minimise marks.
Step 5: Remove Excess Media & Apply Top Coat
After approximately 24 hours, sweep and vacuum all loose anti-slip media from the surface. Apply one top coat of Ultrashield epoxy using a cross-rolling technique to fully encapsulate the aggregate.
Important Application Notes
- Avoid Pooling: Do not leave puddles or areas of excessive epoxy during top coating, as this can cover the aggregate and reduce the finished slip resistance.
- Even Aggregate Coverage: Broadcast the anti-slip media evenly across the entire floor to help achieve a consistent P4/R11 finish.
- Application Temperature: Apply between 10–30°C for suitable curing conditions.
- Allow Sufficient Time: Allow approximately 3–4 days for the complete system, depending on site conditions and curing times.
