Flowcrete Flowcoat OP 4 x 10kg Epoxy Floor Coating Package – 100m²

Flowcrete Flowcoat OP is a high-performance epoxy floor coating system designed to create a durable, seamless floor with a uniform Orange Peel surface texture. This package includes 4 x 10kg Flowcoat OP kits and is suitable for industrial, commercial and other high-use areas.

The Flowcoat OP 0.3mm system is applied in two coats at 0.2kg/m² per coat, providing coverage of up to approximately 100m² from four 10kg kits. Actual coverage can vary depending on surface condition, preparation, application method and material wastage.

Flowcoat OP Orange Peel Finish

Flowcoat OP creates a uniform Orange Peel surface texture with a gloss finish. The textured epoxy coating provides a practical, hard-wearing floor surface while maintaining a clean and uniform appearance.

The seamless finish is low maintenance and resistant to abrasion and chemicals, making Flowcoat OP suitable for areas subject to regular traffic and general industrial use.

Flowcoat OP Application Instructions

Step 1: Surface Preparation

  • Concrete should be finished by steel trowel.
  • Complete surface preparation using totally enclosed light shot blasting or diamond grinding to a minimum CSP2 before applying any coating.
  • Light shot blasting may leave track and blast lines which will not be covered.
  • Remove all cementitious laitance to expose a sound, dry, dust-free and open-textured surface.
  • Prepare hard-to-reach areas and areas around the perimeter using hand-held preparation equipment.
  • For proper surface preparation methods, refer to ICRI’s Technical Guideline No. 03732.

Step 2: Apply Flowprime AU  **Required for Porous Surfaces only

The substrate must be surface dry before applying Flowprime AU.

  • Stir Base A to re-disperse any settlement.
  • Decant the required amount of Base A into a clean container by weight using digital scales.
  • Add the required amount of Hardener B to the decanted Base A container and drain thoroughly.
  • Mix with a slow-speed drill and helical spinner head for 1 minute, taking care not to entrain air.
  • Add 2–7% Xylene if required depending on conditions and mix for a further 30 seconds.
  • Immediately after mixing, apply Flowprime AU by squeegee and/or roller.

Step 3: Mix Flowcoat OP – First Coat

  • The substrate must be surface dry before applying Flowcoat OP.
  • If Flowprime AU has been applied, Flowcoat OP must be applied within 24 hours at 20°C following application of Flowprime AU.
  • Flowcoat OP pack components are pre-weighed for optimum performance. Do not split or proportion packs unless required; if packs are proportioned, this must be completed by weight using digital scales.
  • Stir Base A to re-disperse any settlement.
  • Add Hardener B to the Base A container and drain thoroughly.
  • Mix with a slow-speed drill and helical spinner head for 90 seconds, taking care not to entrain air.
  • Add 2–7% Xylene if required depending on conditions and mix for a further 30 seconds.
  • Immediately after mixing, apply Flowcoat OP by squeegee and/or roller.
  • Allow to cure.

Step 4: Mix Flowcoat OP – Second Coat

  • The previous coat must be surface dry before applying the second coat of Flowcoat OP.
  • The second coat must be applied within 24 hours at 20°C following application of the first coat.
  • Flowcoat OP pack components are pre-weighed for optimum performance. Do not split or proportion packs unless required; if packs are proportioned, this must be completed by weight using digital scales.
  • Stir Base A to re-disperse any settlement.
  • Add Pigment if supplied separately and mix until uniform.
  • Add Hardener B to the Base A container and drain thoroughly.
  • Mix with a slow-speed drill and helical spinner head for 90 seconds, taking care not to entrain air.
  • Add 2–7% Xylene if required depending on conditions and mix for a further 30 seconds.
  • Immediately after mixing, apply the second coat of Flowcoat OP by roller.
  • Allow to cure.

Step 5: Cleaning

  • Tools and equipment can be cleaned with MEK, Acetone or Xylene.

Step 6: Allow for Traffic

  • Allow to cure for a minimum of 24 hours at temperatures no less than 20°C before foot traffic.
  • Allow a minimum of 72 hours before vehicular traffic.

Flowcoat OP Application Conditions

  • Recommended material and substrate temperature: 5–35°C
  • Substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dew point
  • Temperatures should not fall below 5°C for 24 hours after application
  • Concrete moisture should be below 75% RH
  • Concrete or screed should have a minimum strength of 25 N/mm²
  • Ensure adequate safety ventilation during application

Flowcoat OP Curing Times

Temp. Foot Traffic Vehicle Traffic Full Chemical Cure
10°C 48 hours 96 hours 12 days
20°C 24 hours 72 hours 7 days
30°C 18 hours 48 hours 6 days

These figures are typical properties achieved in laboratory tests at 20°C and 50% relative humidity. At 20°C, allow a minimum of 24 hours before foot traffic and 72 hours before vehicular traffic.

Recommended Equipment

  • 10–12mm nap roller
  • Slow-speed drill with helical mixer head
  • Squeegee

  • Flowcoat OP is not UV stable and will discolour unless otherwise stated. External areas requires suitable uv stable or uv resistant clear sealer.
  • The system should have no contact with water for 5 days at 20°C or blooming may occur.
  • The system should be installed at least 3°C above the dew point.
  • Low temperature and high humidity can cause blooming issues.
  • Wind or strong airflow may cause quick curing and drying of the system.
  • Direct heat during application can cause flash curing and potential delamination.
  • Do not apply the system to substrates with temperatures exceeding 35°C.
  • The specific slip rating depends on the complete system design, products, coverage rates, aggregate and installation method.
  • The substrate must have an effective damp-proof membrane where required.
  • If moisture content is above 75% RH, contact Flowcrete Australia before application.
  • Always follow the manufacturer's current technical data sheets and application instructions.
