Description
Description
ULTRASHIELD Premium Epoxy Flooring Resin
UltraShield Epoxy is a premium grade, high solids, low yellowing, self-priming, pigmented epoxy floor coating resin designed to protect concrete floors and offer seamless, durable floor protection.
Advantages of UltraShield Epoxy Resin
- Extended pot life — gives applicators more time to apply the mixed product without stress, compared to other high solids products
- Excellent UV resistance — will not yellow or change colour in front of roller doors. Note: Not suitable as an exterior top coat. For external systems, consider UltraKote UVSeal.
- Excellent hot tyre pick-up resistance — ideal for garage epoxy floors
- Excellent wear and abrasion resistance
- Excellent fuel and chemical resistance
- Produces a smooth and glossy finish — slip resistance can be achieved by adding anti-slip media
- Easy application by brush, roller, squeegee, or spray equipment
- Available in a wide range of colours
Areas of Use
- Garage floors — single colour application and base coat for flake flooring systems
- Warehouses
- Aircraft hangars
- Schools
- Mechanical workshops
- Commercial kitchens

Recommended Preparation Method
Preparation is the most important key to achieving a long-lasting floor-coating system.
Diamond grinding is the recommended method of preparing new and old substrates. The purpose is to remove flaking paint and contamination, open concrete pores, and allow the first coat to penetrate deep into the surface. Acid etching may be used as an alternative. Click here for more information.
Recommended Diamond Tooling Grits
- 30/40 grit for hard concrete
- 80 grit for soft concrete
- PCD plugs to remove flaking paint, then grinding shoes to smooth the floor

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes UltraShield different from other epoxy resins?
UltraShield has two standout advantages over most high-solids epoxy products: an extended pot life (giving you more working time after mixing) and excellent UV resistance, meaning it won't yellow or discolour in front of roller doors or in bright indoor environments. It's also self-priming, which can save you a step on suitable surfaces.
What size kit do I need for my garage?
A standard single garage (up to 20sqm) requires two 8L kits for two coats. A double garage (35–40sqm) requires two 16L kits. Use the coverage guide above as a reference, and contact us if you're unsure — we're happy to help you calculate the right quantity for your specific floor.
Is UltraShield suitable for outdoor use?
UltraShield Epoxy is not recommended as an exterior top coat due to UV degradation over time in direct sunlight. For outdoor areas such as patios, driveways, or balconies, we recommend using UltraKote UVSeal as the top coat. Contact us to discuss the right system for your outdoor project.
Do I need to prime the floor first?
UltraShield Epoxy is self-priming on most prepared concrete surfaces, which means you can apply it directly as the first coat without a separate primer. However, if your floor has rising dampness or is highly porous, a dedicated moisture barrier or primer coat may be required. Contact us if you're unsure.
How long does it take to dry and cure?
At 20°C, UltraShield Epoxy is touch dry within 4–6 hours. Light foot traffic is possible after 24 hours. Full hardness and chemical resistance is achieved after 7 days. Avoid vehicle traffic for a minimum of 5–7 days after the final coat.
Can I add anti-slip media to UltraShield?
Yes. Anti-slip media can be broadcast into the wet epoxy or mixed into the final coat. Refer to the slip resistance guide above for the correct grit size to achieve your required R or P rating. Contact us if you need guidance on which product to use.
Can I pick this up from your store?
Yes! Local pickup is available from our Silverwater showroom at 6 Giffard Street, Silverwater NSW 2128. We also ship Australia-wide with same-day dispatch on most orders.
What if I need help during my application?
Our expert tech support team is available via live chat on our website. We're real installers — not a call centre — so you'll get practical, hands-on advice tailored to your specific project and conditions.

However, we are not responsible for the colour accuracy of the device you are viewing our swatches on. These variations arise due to different computer monitors and devices (make, model and technology, as well as resolution, contrast and brightness control settings) in much the same way a scan will differ from an original image and a colour photocopy. Furthermore, coatings can exhibit variation in perceived colour depending on gloss level and application method. If you require a very specific colour match, please make your selection via actual swatches and colour boards available at our showroom.
