Sikalastic-777: Root-resistant waterproofing for planter boxes and below-ground walls

Sikalastic 777 is a high-performance, single-component polyurethane waterproofing membrane designed for planter boxes, retaining walls, foundation walls, basement walls and below-ground applications. This black, moisture-curing membrane is hand-applied and ready to use, combining excellent root resistance with flexibility and resistance to stagnant water and puncture.

Buy Sikalastic-777 in a 15L pack from Epoxy Warehouse, a Sika distributor in Australia. For a planted area or below-ground wall, selecting a membrane designed for root exposure is an important part of specifying the waterproofing system.

Where to use Sikalastic-777

  • Planter boxes requiring root-resistant waterproofing
  • Retaining walls
  • Foundation and basement walls
  • Below-ground waterproofing applications

Key benefits

  • Excellent root-resistance properties
  • Low VOC formulation
  • UV resistance and a quick tack-free surface
  • High resistance to stagnant water and puncture
  • Elongation greater than 300%, Class III membrane according to AS/NZS 4858
  • Single component, ready to use without mixing separate components

Coverage and required film thickness

Vertical applications: apply two coats, each at a minimum of 0.670L/m², to achieve 1mm dry film thickness. A 15L pack theoretically covers approximately 11.2m² across both coats.

Floor applications: apply two coats, each at a minimum of 0.8L/m², to achieve 1.2mm dry film thickness. A 15L pack theoretically covers approximately 9.4m² across both coats.

Coverage estimates exclude wastage and allowance for surface profile or porosity. Do not spread the product further to increase coverage: under-application can reduce performance and UV resistance and cause premature degradation. The data sheet recommends a minimum 1–1.2mm dry film thickness for all applications.

Preparation, priming and curing

A primer is required. Do not install Sikalastic-777 without a primer. The substrate must be clean, sound, smooth, dust-free and oil-free. Sika recommends an epoxy primer for highly porous substrates; confirm the suitable primer and system for your substrate using current Sika instructions.

The supplied data sheet states 24 hours for full cure and light foot traffic after 24 hours. In normal conditions, recoat after one night and within two days. Rain or an exceeded recoating interval requires additional preparation in accordance with Sika's instructions. Actual drying and curing can vary with site conditions.

However, we are not responsible for the colour accuracy of the device you are viewing our swatches on. These variations arise due to different computer monitors and devices (make, model and technology, as well as resolution, contrast and brightness control settings) in much the same way a scan will differ from an original image and a colour photocopy. Furthermore, coatings can exhibit variation in perceived colour depending on gloss level and application method. If you require a very specific colour match, please make your selection via actual swatches and colour boards available at our showroom.
