EPIREZ Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder 633
EPIREZ Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder is a solventless epoxy binder designed for vertical, overhead and inclined applications. Its non-sag consistency allows it to be used for demanding repair and bonding work where conventional epoxy mortars may not stay in position.
Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder 633 can be applied to damp or wet surfaces and provides excellent adhesion to wet or dry concrete. When combined with EPIREZ® Patching & Flooring Mortar Aggregate (QA2), it can be used to prepare thixotropic epoxy mortars for vertical and overhead repairs, grouting and other structural applications.
The binder provides high mechanical strength, high chemical resistance and a non-shrink formulation. It is also suitable for low-temperature curing within its specified application temperature range.
EPIREZ® Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder has been independently tested and meets the requirements of AS/NZS 4020:2018 for use in contact with potable water.
The product was previously named EPIREZ® 633.

Coverage and Estimating Data
| System | Estimated Coverage | Thickness |
|---|---|---|
| 1 L Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder | 1 m² | 1 mm thick |
| 1 L Binder + 2 L EPIREZ® Patching & Flooring Mortar Aggregate (QA2) | 1 m² | 2 mm thick |
Application Areas and Aggregate Ratios
Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder can be combined with EPIREZ® Patching & Flooring Mortar Aggregate (QA2) at different ratios depending on the application.
- Vertical and overhead concrete repairs: 1 part binder to 2 parts QA2 by volume.
- Grouting on vertical surfaces: 1 part binder to 1 part QA2 by volume.
- Underwater and splash-zone repairs: 1 part binder to 2 parts QA2 by volume.
- Pile restoration repairs: 1 part binder to 1 part QA2 by volume.
Vertical and Overhead Concrete Repairs
For vertical and overhead concrete repairs, EPIREZ® Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder can be combined with EPIREZ® Patching & Flooring Mortar Aggregate (QA2) at a 1:2 ratio by volume.
The resulting repair system has a stated compressive strength of 85 MPa, tensile strength of 12 MPa and water permeability of 2 × 10-17 m/s.
Grouting on Vertical Surfaces
For vertical grouting applications, the binder and QA2 aggregate are typically combined at a 1:1 ratio by volume.
Pull-out testing with deformed reinforcing bars produced the following results:
- 12 mm deformed bar: Bar failure.
- 18 mm deformed bar: Concrete failure.
Underwater and Splash-Zone Repairs
For underwater and splash-zone repairs, Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder can be combined with QA2 aggregate at a 1:2 ratio by volume.
When placed and cured under seawater, the repair system achieved:
- Tensile bond strength: 2.4 MPa, with concrete failure.
- Compressive strength: 50 MPa.
- Water permeability: 2 × 10-17 m/s.
Pile Restoration Repairs
For pile restoration, the binder and QA2 aggregate are typically combined at a 1:1 ratio by volume.
The technical data provides the following comparison with the original pile:
- Concrete piles: Eroded pile — 71% of new pile; repaired pile — 113% of new pile.
- Timber piles: Eroded pile — 26% of new pile; repaired pile — 102% of new pile.
Surface Preparation
Remove all loose, crumbly and drummy areas to create a sound concrete surface.
- Captive blast clean or acid etch to expose firmly held aggregate.
- Remove dust, oil and grease.
- Dampness can be tolerated.
- For critical applications, porous concrete can be primed with EPIREZ® Epoxy Primer / Sealer 123.
The surface should be sound and properly prepared before application.
Mixing Instructions
Measure enough Hardener and Compound to be used within the 30-minute work time.
- Mix using a stirrer fitted to a low-speed 400 rpm power mixer.
- Ensure all material from the container sides, lip and stirrer is incorporated.
- Avoid air entrapment during mixing.
- Keep the mixer propeller below the liquid line.
- If using QA2 aggregate, add the appropriate quantity after the Hardener and Compound are fully mixed.
Full units are recommended because the components are pre-measured.
Drying and Cure Times
- Work time at 25°C: 30 minutes
- Tack-free time at 25°C: 6 hours
- Hardening time at 25°C: 24 hours
- Full chemical resistance: 7 days at 25°C
Potable Water Use
EPIREZ® Non-Sag Epoxy Mortar Binder has been independently tested and meets the requirements of AS/NZS 4020:2018 for use in contact with potable water.
Temperature Resistance
- Wet: 65°C
- Dry: 120°C
Important Product Limitations
- Application temperature range is 10°C to 30°C.
- Material should be measured and mixed according to the specified ratio.
