EPIREZ® Heavy Duty Backing Grout 5137 is a non-shrink, heavy-duty epoxy grout designed for demanding industrial and structural applications. Its flowable consistency allows it to fill fine voids and cavities down to 2 mm, before hardening into a tough, impact-resistant backing.

Heavy Duty Backing Grout 5137 is particularly suited to backing crusher manganese steel liners, where it provides support to the components and protection for supporting structures. It is also suitable for machine bases, bearing supports, bridge footings and rail grouting.

The grout provides high compressive strength, excellent mechanical strength and good chemical resistance without requiring aggregate to be added. It can be used for pours from 2 mm to 50 mm, depending on the volume of the pour.

The product was previously named EPIREZ® 5137.

Backing Grout for Crusher Liners

EPIREZ® Heavy Duty Backing Grout 5137 is designed as a backing grout for crusher manganese steel liners.

The grout flows behind the liner and into fine voids before hardening to provide support to the components and protection for the supporting structure.

For crusher liner applications, the product's non-shrink properties and high mechanical strength provide a solid backing system for demanding equipment environments.

Coverage and Pour Thickness

Pack Size Mixed Volume Pour Thickness
10 kg 6 litres 2–50 mm

The suitable pour thickness depends on the volume of the pour. For specific recommendations based on the project, technical advice should be obtained before application.

Surface Preparation

Prepare surfaces according to whether the grout needs to bond to the substrate or release from it.

  • New concrete should be at least 28 days old.
  • Prepare the substrate to provide the required adhesion or release.
  • Use suitable formwork where required.
  • Formwork that provides a material head can help the grout flow into finer cavities and voids.

Mixing Instructions

Heavy Duty Backing Grout 5137 uses a 1 part Hardener to 5 parts Compound by volume, or 1 part Hardener to 10 parts Compound by weight.

  1. Precondition the product to between 18°C and 25°C before use.
  2. Pour the Hardener into the Compound container.
  3. Mix thoroughly for 5 minutes using a suitable blade fitted to a 400 rpm power mixer.
  4. Ensure all material from the sides, container lip and stirrer is incorporated.
  5. Avoid air entrapment during mixing.

Full units are recommended because the components are pre-measured.

Application

After mixing, pour the grout slowly from one side of the application area to minimise air entrapment.

Do not aerate the mixed material during application.

Formwork that creates a suitable head of material can assist the grout in flowing into fine cavities and voids.

Drying and Cure Times

Condition Work Time Setting Time Cure Time
