EPIREZ® General Purpose Epoxy Mortar Binder 133
EPIREZ® General Purpose Epoxy Mortar Binder is a solventless epoxy binder designed for multi-purpose epoxy mortar and concrete applications where high structural integrity is required. Its low mixed viscosity, wet-surface bonding capability and fast hardening help produce high-strength epoxy mortars and concretes.
When combined with EPIREZ aggregates, the binder can be used to prepare epoxy mortars and concretes for structural repairs, concrete lining, grouting and steel-to-concrete bonding.
The cured system provides excellent adhesion, high compressive and tensile strength, and resistance to the entry and passage of water and corrosive ions. It also provides high chemical resistance and a non-shrink formulation.
EPIREZ® General Purpose Epoxy Mortar Binder has been independently tested and complies with AS/NZS 4020:2018 for use with potable water.
The product was previously named EPIREZ® 133.

Preparing Epoxy Mortar and Concrete
EPIREZ® General Purpose Epoxy Mortar Binder can be combined with EPIREZ® aggregates to prepare high-strength epoxy mortars and concretes.
The estimating data provides an example of a 4 L binder combined with 16 L of EPIREZ® Patching & Flooring Mortar Aggregate (QA2) to produce approximately 4 m² at 4 mm thick.
Coverage and Estimating Data
| Binder / System | Estimated Coverage | Thickness |
|---|---|---|
| 1 L EPIREZ® General Purpose Epoxy Mortar Binder | 1 m² | 1 mm DFT |
| 4 L Binder + 16 L EPIREZ® Patching & Flooring Mortar Aggregate (QA2) | 4 m² | 4 mm thick |
Application Temperature
EPIREZ® General Purpose Epoxy Mortar Binder has a stated application temperature range of 10°C to 30°C.
The product provides a low-temperature cure within its specified application temperature range.
Mixing Ratio
The mixing ratio is 1 part Hardener to 3 parts Compound.
The pot life at 25°C is approximately 30 minutes, so mixed material should be used within the available working time.
Drying and Cure Times
- Pot life at 25°C: 30 minutes
- Tack-free time at 25°C: 6 hours
- Hardening time at 25°C: 24 hours
- Full chemical resistance: 7 days at 25°C
Mechanical Strength
After curing for 7 days, the technical data provides the following mechanical properties:
- Ultimate compressive strength: 95 MPa
- Compressive modulus: 3.4 GPa
- Ultimate tensile strength: 55 MPa
These values are representative or typical technical data and should not be used for specification purposes.
Water and Chemical Resistance
EPIREZ® General Purpose Epoxy Mortar Binder provides resistance to the entry and passage of water and corrosive ions.
- Water permeability: 2.0 × 10-17 m·s-1
- Resistance to corrosive ions: Designed to resist their entry and passage.
- Full chemical resistance: 7 days at 25°C.
Potable Water Use
EPIREZ® General Purpose Epoxy Mortar Binder has been independently tested and complies with AS/NZS 4020:2018 for use with potable water.
Temperature Resistance
- Wet: 65°C
