EPIREZ Class A Superstrength Grout is a high-strength, cement-based, non-ferrous, non-shrink grout with good flow characteristics. It is supplied as a ready-to-use dry powder requiring only the addition of water.
Designed for construction applications requiring higher performance, Class A Superstrength Grout combines low water requirements with high compressive strength. It provides high early strength and can be placed as a dry pack, trowellable or flowable grout.
Suitable applications include column base plates, anchoring fixings, bolt holes, tilt-up panels, joints, underpinning and concrete repairs. The non-ferrous, chloride-free formulation helps prevent staining and rebar corrosion.
Mixing
Mixing and placement temperatures must be above 5°C. The required water quantity depends on the desired consistency:
- Dry pack: 1.8–2.2 litres per 20kg bag
- Trowellable: 2.8–3.2 litres per 20kg bag
- Flowable / pourable: 4 litres per 20kg bag
Use a grout mixer or suitable power mixer. Add approximately 90% of the recommended water to the mixer first, followed by the dry powder. Mix for 2 minutes, then adjust the consistency with the remaining water. Mix until homogeneous for at least another 3 minutes.
Do not mix for more than 5 minutes and do not remix. Do not mix more grout than can be placed within 20 minutes. Once mixing and placement have commenced, grouting should be carried out as a continuous operation.
Application
Pre-grout bolt holes level with the substrate to help maintain continuous grout flow. Pour from one side only to minimise voids caused by trapped air or excess pre-soaking water.
Maintain a grout head at all times to achieve a continuous grout front. Place the mixed grout promptly and continuously, and finish the grout bed level with the underside of the baseplate.
Yield
Approximate grout yield per 20kg bag:
- Dry pack: 10.2 litres, approximately 98 bags per m³
- Trowellable: 10.6 litres, approximately 94 bags per m³
- Flowable / pourable: 11.6 litres, approximately 86 bags per m³
Compressive Strength
At the dry-pack water ratio of 2.0 litres per 20kg bag, typical compressive strength is 50 MPa at 1 day, 82 MPa at 7 days and 91 MPa at 28 days.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces should be free from oil, grease and loose material. Remove defective concrete and laitance back to a sound base. Bolt holes and fixing pockets should be blown clean of dirt and debris.
Several hours before grouting, flood the prepared foundation with fresh water for pre-soaking. Immediately before grouting, remove all standing water and inspect pockets and bolt holes to ensure water has been removed.
Curing
After placement, cover all exposed grout with wet burlap and plastic to prevent moisture loss and maintain this protection until the grout has hardened.
After cutting back or finishing, continue curing for a minimum of 24 hours with wet burlap, followed by application of a concrete curing compound.
