Coverage and Kit Sizes

Pack Size Estimating Coverage
20 litre pack Approximately 60 m²

The stated estimating data is based on a 20 litre pack covering approximately 60 m².

Application of EpiMax 340 WVB Water Based Epoxy Membrane

EpiMax 340 WVB can be applied by roller or airless spray.

  1. Review the application area in advance.
  2. Calculate a fixed volume of mixed material for a defined area to help maintain the correct application rate.
  3. Use a slow-speed mechanical mixer at approximately 400 rpm.
  4. Mix the Activator and Base thoroughly before application.
  5. Apply to the prepared surface by roller or airless spray.

The hardening mechanism occurs in two stages. First, the contained water evaporates, followed by chemical hardening. Consistent airflow assists the water evaporation stage.

Mixing Instructions

  1. Use the supplied Activator and Base components in their pre-packed proportions.
  2. Combine 1 volume of Activator with 1 volume of Base.
  3. Use a slow-speed mechanical mixer at approximately 400 rpm.
  4. Ensure thorough mixing before application.

Surface Preparation

  • Concrete should be at least 28 days old.
  • Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and free from additives, curing agents and oils.
  • Prepare the sub-floor by professional diamond grinding to expose firmly adhered aggregate.
  • All surfaces must be structurally sound.
  • Remove existing coatings, adhesives and efflorescence.
  • Fill gaps with EpiMax 575 Structural Adhesive System first.

EpiMax 340 WVB can also be used as a barrier coating over new or damp concrete and as a moisture barrier for damp walls and floors.

  • Drying and Cure Times

    • Work time: 2 hours at 25°C.
    • Recoat window: 4–6 hours at 25°C, depending on airflow.
    • Full cure: 7 days at 25°C.

Moisture and Application Conditions

  • Relative humidity should be below 85% during application.
  • Consistent airflow assists the water evaporation stage of hardening.
  • Application and curing conditions can affect the water evaporation stage.

Water Vapour Transmission

EpiMax 340 WVB has a stated water vapour transmission rate of 11.3 g/m²/24 hours.

The product is designed as a low water vapour transmission membrane and can be used as a barrier coating to help prevent water seepage or dampness penetration..

Storage and Shelf Life

  • Shelf life: 12 months.
  • Available in 20 litre packs containing Activator and Base.
  • Components are pre-packed in the correct proportions for use.
