EpiMax 333WB Performance Water Epoxy Coating
EpiMax 333WB Performance Water Epoxy Coating is a water based epoxy coating designed to provide durable protection for concrete, timber, cement sheeting and other stable surfaces. It can be used to prepare durable floor and wall surfaces across a range of commercial and industrial applications.
The fully cross-linking epoxy system provides long-term adhesion, good durability and excellent abrasion resistance. Its water based, hydrocarbon solvent-free formulation provides a low VOC alternative to solvent-based epoxy coatings, with a VOC content of less than 1 g/L.
EpiMax 333WB can be applied by roller or airless spray and is available in a range of AS 2700 colours or clear. Standard colours include N14, N33, N35, N44 and N45.

Where Can EpiMax 333WB Performance Water Epoxy Coating Be Used?
EpiMax 333WB is suitable for a range of commercial, industrial and facility environments, including:
- Retail service areas
- Carparks
- Factories
- Warehouses
- Assembly plants
- Storage facilities
- Plant rooms
- Office areas

For general industrial concrete protection, two coats are recommended at 8–9 m² per litre per coat. Three coats are recommended for heavy traffic areas requiring additional durability.
Coverage and Kit Sizes
| Pack Size | Coverage |
|---|---|
| 8 litre pack | Approximately 32–36 m² over two typical coats |
| 16 litre pack | Coverage varies according to application rate |
The theoretical coverage rate is 8–9 m² per litre per coat. Actual coverage can vary depending on the surface and application conditions.
Application of EpiMax 333WB Performance Water Epoxy Coating
- Prepare the surface to the required standard and ensure it is clean and dry.
- Use a slow-speed mechanical mixer at approximately 400 rpm.
- Add Part B to Part A.
- Mix for a minimum of 3 minutes.
- For the first coat, up to 10% potable water can be added to adjust viscosity.
- If water is added, mix for a further 2 minutes.
- Apply evenly at 8–9 m² per litre.
- Once dry to touch, apply the second coat at 8–9 m² per litre.
EpiMax 333WB can be applied using a 10–11 mm nap roller or airless spray.
Open time and wet edge time are affected by temperature and airflow. Higher temperatures and efficient airflow will decrease these times.
Review the area before application so a fixed volume of mixed material can be applied over a fixed area. This helps maintain the correct application rate.
Mixing Instructions
- Confirm that the Part A batch numbers are the same to help maintain colour consistency.
- Use a slow-speed mechanical mixer at approximately 400 rpm.
- Add EpiMax 333WB Part B to EpiMax 333WB Part A.
- Mix for a minimum of 3 minutes.
- For the first coat only, add up to 10% potable water if required to adjust viscosity.
- After adding potable water, mix for an additional 2 minutes.
The hardening mechanism occurs in two stages. Water first evaporates, followed by chemical hardening. Consistent airflow assists the water evaporation stage.
The work time cannot be determined visually, so actual time should always be monitored. Discard unused material once the 45-minute work time at 25°C has been exceeded. Exceeding the work time can result in a colour change.
Concrete Surface Preparation
- Concrete should be at least 28 days old.
- Ensure the concrete is clean, dry and free from additives, curing agents, oils and other contaminants.
- Prepare the surface by professional diamond grinding to expose firmly adhered aggregate.
- The surface profile should exceed CSP 2.
- Scrub with clean water and vacuum the surface.
- Allow the surface to dry before coating.
- Consider slip factor requirements, particularly with dense slab finishes.
- Always confirm that surface preparation is adequate before application.
Compressed Sheet and Particle Board Preparation
- Sand compressed sheet or particle board flooring to ensure adhesion.
- For general-purpose sanding, use 40–60 grit closed-coat paper.
- Particle boards should be sanded.
- Add non-slip media where required.
For compressed sheet or particle board flooring, apply two coats. Application rate varies according to particleboard porosity.
Industrial Concrete Floor Applications
For general industrial concrete protection, prepare the concrete to exceed a CSP 2 profile and allow wet surfaces to dry.
- Apply two coats at 8–9 m² per litre per coat.
- Three coats are recommended for heavy traffic areas requiring additional durability.
- Rack and line mark as required.
- Maintain the floor regularly using a power sweeper and scrubber drier.
Slip Resistance
Determine site skid resistance requirements before application and select the appropriate EpiMax Aggregate, including R10, R11 or R12 grades, for addition to the freshly mixed coating in accordance with the recommendations.
EpiMax 333WB can meet HB198 slip resistance classifications P3, P4 or P5 when used with white fused aluminium oxide as specified.
Slip resistance classifications are based on testing to AS/NZS 4586:2013, Slip resistance classification of new pedestrian surface materials. CSIRO/Standards Australia HB 197 provides guidance on slip resistance classifications for various facilities.
Drying and Cure Times
- Work time: 45 minutes at 25°C.
- Tack-free time: 6 hours at 25°C, depending on airflow.
- Recoat window: 6–12 hours at 25°C, depending on airflow.
- Light traffic: 24 hours at 25°C, depending on airflow.
- Full cure: 7 days at 25°C.
Allow the coating to cure for 7 days before subjecting it to full exposure.
Temperature and Application Conditions
- Do not apply when relative humidity is above 80%.
- Do not apply when temperature is below 12°C or above 30°C.
- Application at relative humidity above 80% may result in loss of gloss level.
- Always protect the coating from rain for 24 hours after application.
General Cleaning
Regular housekeeping is important for keeping coated floor surfaces safe.
- Vacuum, wash, scrub or sweep regularly according to site requirements.
- Mechanical sweepers and scrubbers can provide effective results.
- Remove spills quickly.
- Wash affected areas and allow the floor to dry completely.
- Verify that cleaning frequency and effectiveness are appropriate for the site conditions.
Important Product Limitations
- Concrete should be at least 28 days old before application.
- Surfaces must be clean and dry and properly prepared.
- Do not apply below 12°C or above 30°C.
- Avoid application when relative humidity exceeds 80%.
- Protect the coating from rain for 24 hours after application.
- Exceeding the 45-minute work time at 25°C can result in colour change.
- Adding potable water to the first coat will reduce final film build.
