How to Apply Your Sikafloor DecoDur ES-26 Flake Epoxy System
Preparation is the most important stage of applying any successful industrial coating system!
- Diamond grinding is the recommended preparation method — removes existing coatings and opens concrete pores for deep primer penetration
- Patch and fill any cracks using Sikadur 31 CF Normal
- Apply 1x coat of Sikafloor 264 as a primer coat using a 12mm nap roller and allow to cure. Note: use a moisture barrier primer if rising dampness is present
- Return the next day to apply 1x base coat of Sikafloor 264, broadcast flake over the wet film, and allow to cure for 16–18 hours. If the recoat window exceeds 36 hours, sand the floor before the next coat
- Clean and vacuum any loose flake particles
- Apply 1x squeegee coat or 2x roller-applied coats of Sikafloor 169
- Aluminium oxide anti-slip media can be added to the topcoat for a higher slip rating
- Floor is trafficable after 24 hours. Avoid parking cars, boats, or trailers for 7 days after the final coat
All products must be applied in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended method. Read all technical and safety data sheets prior to application.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Partial Flake and Full Flake package?
The Partial Flake package uses 1 box of flake for a light, scattered look with more of the base colour visible. The Full Flake package uses 6 boxes for a full broadcast, 100% coverage finish — the most popular choice for garages and showrooms. Not sure which is right for you? Contact us and we'll help you decide.
Does this kit cover everything I need for a complete flake floor?
Yes — this is a complete system. It includes the Sikafloor 264 base coat, flake chips, Sikafloor 169 clear top coat, and all application accessories. The only items not included are an extension pole (available from Bunnings) and a drill for mixing.
How long does the full installation process take?
A typical flake floor system takes 3 days — day one for surface preparation and primer, day two for the base coat and flake broadcast, and day three for vacuuming loose flake and applying the clear top coats. The floor is trafficable after 24 hours and ready for vehicles after 7 days.
Will this kit cover my entire garage?
This package covers up to 70sqm. A standard single garage is approximately 15–20sqm and a double garage is approximately 35–40sqm, so this kit suits large garages, workshops, and commercial spaces. Coverage may vary depending on the porosity of your concrete.
Can I choose my flake colour and size?
Yes! Flake chips are available in a range of colours and sizes. Please contact us before ordering to discuss your preferences and we'll ensure the right flake is included in your package.
Is the Sikafloor 169 clear coat UV stable?
Sikafloor 169 is a water-based clear epoxy top coat. For outdoor areas or spaces with significant UV exposure such as patios or balconies, we recommend discussing a UV-stable polyurethane top coat with our team to ensure long-term colour stability.
Can I pick this up or does it need to be shipped?
Both options are available. Local pickup is available from our Silverwater showroom at 6 Giffard Street, Silverwater NSW 2128. We also ship Australia-wide with same-day dispatch on most orders.
What if I need help during my installation?
Our expert tech support team is available via live chat on our website. We're real installers — not a call centre — so you'll get practical, hands-on advice tailored to your specific project and conditions.

Colour accuracy disclaimer: We have taken care to display the most accurate visuals of our products. However, we are not responsible for the colour accuracy of the device you are viewing our swatches on. These variations arise due to different computer monitors and devices (make, model and technology, as well as resolution, contrast and brightness control settings) in much the same way a scan will differ from an original image and a colour photocopy. Furthermore, coatings can exhibit variation in perceived colour depending on gloss level and application method. If you require a very specific colour match, please make your selection via actual swatches and colour boards available at our showroom.
